Goodwill Industries Volunteer Services is a group of more than one hundred volunteers who raise funds to support Goodwill through home content sales. GIVS also raises awareness about Goodwill throughout the community.

One of GIVS key responsibilities is to conduct Home Content Sales for clients throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Homeowners or tenants wishing to sell the contents of their homes through an estate sale or due to downsizing can rely on GIVS to administer all aspects of the sale, including: advertising/marketing, sorting, preparing items for sale, pricing, merchandise display, on-site sales, and removing surplus items. GIVS will drive traffic to the two-day sale by placing advertising in the Toronto Star’s Classified section, distributing flyers in the community and phoning or emailing a list of 1,000 preferred contacts.

GIVS volunteers will do their best to sell all of the merchandise. Any leftover items from the sale that are donated to Goodwill and sold for more than $50, will qualify for a tax receipt.

GIVS provides a convenient and personal service for what can often be an emotional and overwhelming experience for a homeowner.
