York Region helps residents clear out their clutter:

Partnership with Goodwill will help divert materials from landfill

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York has partnered with Goodwill for the third consecutive year to offer a series of donation drives in 2006 to help residents clear out their clutter.  These donation events provide an opportunity for residents to divert valuable material from landfill and, through the sale of these goods, to assist Goodwill in employing those in our community who face barriers to employment.

In 2005, York Region residents diverted 8,000 kilograms of reusable goods from landfill through Regional reuse events such as donation drives.

The final donation drive in the series of three offered this spring will take place this Saturday through to next Friday.  The event will be at Vaughan Mills and will feature prizes, live entertainment and refreshments from Starbucks Coffee Company.
