Work is the lifeblood of healthy, vibrant communities and can be a catalyst in revitalizing marginalized communities.  A community that offers diverse and plentiful work opportunities becomes a magnet that draws in both people and investment.

Profound changes in the world of work have marginalized and excluded many other groups in society, including the “working poor” and immigrants, who historically have been upwardly mobile but are particularly vulnerable in the new labour market.

REACH™ is Goodwill’s employment initiative, which is based on 6-12 month, part-time, paid employment that offers on-the-job experience in Goodwill enterprises, together with the life skills training that will assist those who face barriers to employment to get and keep a full-time job in the future.

The philosophy behind REACH™ is that the best way to learn how to work is through paid work.

REACH™ is targeted to anyone facing barriers to employment, including at-risk youth, new Canadians and people with disabilities. Jobs are created in the following Goodwill operations:

  • Retail Customer Service/ Donations
  • Environmental (Janitorial) Services
  • Warehousing/ material handling

The goal of REACH™ is to have the majority of the employees secure permanent full-time or part-time employment or return to school.

REACH™ employees will be paid for the work they perform ($10.25/ hour).
