Carton of Caring Donation Program

When you donate your items to Goodwill, it can be a convenient way to clean your home and green your community. However, there are some items that Goodwill cannot resell and therefore we ask that you kindly sort through your goods according to the guidelines below:

Goodwill accepts new and gently used items that are clean and in saleable condition, including:

  • Clothing, shoes, boots, belts, purses, jewellery, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves

It's hard to say "no thank you" to a donation.  Certain items are refused for some very good reasons:

  • They are not reusable or contain hazardous materials

  • They do not comply with current safety standards

  • They are broken, parts or labels and instructions are missing

  • Our donation centre attendants may also decline a donation if, in their judgement, it is not in clean, saleable condition

Unfortunately, we cannot accept the following:

  • Any products that do not meet current safety standards including recalled items

  • Baby items – cribs & cradles, car seats, carriages & strollers, baby gates, playpens,

    baby walkers, children's sleepwear

  • Toys for children under 3 years of age

  • Traditional recyclables – glass windows (or sheets of glass), newsprint, office paper, cardboard, plastics, etc.
