Donating items to Goodwill is a convenient way
to clear your home of excess items while creating work for people
in your community who need it most.
It is crucial, however, that our donors sort their items before
they donate to Goodwill in order to weed out garbage and/or items
that Goodwill cannot re-sell. While we appreciate and depend on
your donations, having to sort and re-dispose of unacceptable items
takes time and resources away from our core mission of creating
more jobs and opportunities.
So please, before you pack up your goods, check out this list of
what - and what not - to donate to Goodwill.
Goodwill accepts new and gently used items that are clean and in
saleable condition, including:
-
Clothing, shoes, boots, belts, purses, jewellery, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves
-
Books, records, CDs, video tapes, games, toys, sports equipment

It's hard to say "no thank you" to a donation. Certain items are refused for some very good reasons:
|
-
They are not recyclable or contain hazardous materials
-
They are too old to comply with current safety standards
-
They are broken, parts or labels and instructions are missing
- Our donation centre attendants may also decline a donation if, in their judgement, it is not in clean, saleable condition.
|
Unfortunately, we cannot accept the following:
